Synopsis: Billionaire industrialist and genius inventor Tony Stark is captured by terrorists in Afghanistan, where a shrapnel wound nearly kills him. With fellow captive Ho Yinsen’s help, he builds a rudimentary armored suit with a life-saving arc reactor to escape—though Yinsen sacrifices himself in the process. Back home, Stark abandons his company’s weapons manufacturing and upgrades the suit into the high-tech "Iron Man" armor to fight those who misuse his technology. He soon uncovers a conspiracy within his own firm led by business partner Obadiah Stane, who has built a massive rival suit to seize control. In a climactic battle, Stark defeats Stane and publicly reveals his identity as Iron Man.
